Master Patterns

A Master Pattern is a basic pattern that is used as the building block for all other patternmaking. Master Patterns are drafted based from a person’s specific body measurements and do not include wearing ease, or any other design elements. They are simply a representation of a three-dimensional model in two-dimensional form. Software Tailoring’s master patterns include a 0.5” seam allowance which allows the user to test the pattern upon receiving it. If you wish, the pattern can be delivered without a seam allowance.

Once a person has a Master Pattern fitted to them, it can be used to alter commercial patterns to fit them or used by a tailor or pattern maker to create any desired custom design.

Master Patterns take 6-8 weeks to complete and can be either mailed to you using USPS or picked up at the shop.

THE BODY SCAN PACKAGE

We use the Size Stream SS-14 body scanning system to capture a 3D image of your body with over 100 measurements. The Body Scan Package includes the scan of your body from which you receive a printout of your measurements including images of your body silhouette.
